Genetically Modified Corn Contains Practically No Nutrients



A breakthrough report on the nutritional density of genetically-modified (GM) corn crops demolishes all existing claims that GMOs are “substantially equivalent” to non-GMOs. Entitled 2012 Nutritional Analysis: Comparison of GMO Corn versus Non-GMO Corn, the paper reveals not only that GMO corn is greatly lacking in vitamins and minerals compared to non-GMO corn, but also that it is highly toxic and filled with deadly crop chemicals like glyphosate (Roundup).

The owners of the blog ‘MomsAcrossAmerica.com’ say the report was shared with them by De Dell Seed Company, Canada’s only non-GMO corn seed supplier, which obtained it from a Minnesota-based agricultural company called ProfitPro. Overall, the paper found that non-GMO corn is 20 times richer in nutrition, energy and protein compared to GMO corn.

Concerning energy content, as measured in terms of ERGS, non-GMO corn was found in tests to give off 3,400 times more energy per gram, per second compared to GMO corn, an astounding variance. And as far as its overall percentage of organic matter is concerned, non-GMO corn was determined to have nearly twice as much of this vital component compared to GMO corn.

The field comparison also evaluated individual nutrient deviations, which revealed some shocking facts. Potassium, which is necessary for energy production and proper cellular function, is barely even present in GMO corn, having clocked in at 0.7 parts per million (ppm). In non-GMO corn, however, potassium levels were more than 13 times higher, testing at 9.2 ppm.


The disparity was even worse for magnesium, which tested at a mere 0.2 ppm in GMO corn. In non-GMO corn, however, magnesium levels were found to be 46 times higher than in non-GMO corn. Similar variances were observed for calcium, sulfur and manganese as well, with the contents of each being 12.4, 14, and seven times higher, respectively.

On the other hand, non-GMO corn was found to be free of chlorides, formaldehyde, glyphosate, and other harmful chemicals, while in GMO corn they were identified in dangerously high levels. According to an analysis of the report by MomsAcrossAmerica.com, GMO corn contains about 19 times more glyphosate than is permitted as a maximum in drinking water by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and 130 times more glyphosate than has been found in tests to cause organ damage in animals.


Similarly, GMO corn contains dangerously high levels of formaldehyde, according to the report. A previous study conducted by Dr. Don Huber on GMOs revealed that .97 ppm of formaldehyde is toxic if ingested by animals. As it turns out, GMO corn contains 200 times more formaldehyde than this maximum safety threshold.

These shock findings are at great odds with the claims continually being made by agri-genocide giant Monsanto. On its corporate website, Monsanto claims that approved genetically-modified (GM) crops are “substantially equivalent” to non-GMOs, meaning they are not nutritionally different from non-GMO crops. But as this study shows, these claims are patently false, and indicate that Monsanto is engaged in a global agricultural scam based on complete lies.

“Glyphosate is a strong organic phosphate chelator that immobilizes positively charged minerals such as manganese, cobalt, iron, zinc, copper, etc. that are essential for normal physiological functions in soils, plants and animals,” explains Dr. Huber about how GMO crop chemicals literally destroy the nutrient content of GMO crops.

Cross these items off your grocery store  list—whether they’re rip-offs, fakes, drastically unhealthy, or just plan gross, here are the 27 foods you should never buy again.

1-  Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese

The easiest method is to put crushed tomatoes (canned or fresh) into a skillet, stir in some wine or wine vinegar, a little sugar, your favorite herbs, and whatever chopped vegetables you like in your sauce — peppers, onions, mushrooms, even carrots — and let simmer for an hour. Adjust the flavorings and serve. Even easier: Coat fresh tomatoes and the top of a cooking sheet with olive oil and roast the tomatoes for 20 to 30 minutes at 425˚F before making your stovetop sauce.

8- Swordfish
 
Large bottom-feeder fish such as tuna, shark, king mackerel, tilefish, and especially swordfish are high in mercury. Choose smaller fish, like flounder, catfish, sardines, and salmon instead.

16- Premium frozen fruit bars

At nearly $2 per bar, frozen ‘all fruit’ or ‘fruit and juice’ bars may not be rich in calories, but they are certainly rich in price. Make your own at home — and get the flavors you want. To make four pops, just throw 2 cups cut-up fruit, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice into a blender. Cover and blend until smooth. You might wish to add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water so the final mix is a thick slush. Pour into 4-ounce pop molds or paper cups, insert sticks, and freeze until solid.

17- Boxed rice ‘entree’ or side-dish mixes

These consist basically of rice, salt, and spices — yet they’re priced way beyond the ingredients sold individually. Yes, there are a few flavorings included, but they’re probably ones you have in your pantry already. Buy a bag of rice, measure out what you need, add your own herbs and other seasonings, and cook the rice according to package directions.

18- Energy or protein bars
 
These calorie-laden bars are usually stacked at the checkout counter because they depend on impulse buyers who grab them, thinking they are more wholesome than a candy bar. Unfortunately, they can have very high fat and sugar contents and are often as caloric as a regular candy bar. They’re also two to three times more expensive than a candy bar. If you need a boost, a vitamin-rich piece of fruit, a yogurt, or a small handful of nuts is more satiating and less expensive.

19- Spice mixes

Spice mixes like grill seasoning and rib rubs might seem like a good buy because they contain a lot of spices that you would have to buy individually. Check the label first: We predict the first ingredient you will see on the package is salt, followed by the vague ‘herbs and spices.’ Look in your own pantry, and you’ll probably be surprised to discover just how many herbs you already have on hand, and you can improvise as much as you want.

20- Powdered iced tea mixes or prepared flavored iced tea

Powdered and gourmet iced teas are really a rip-off! It’s much cheaper to make your own iced tea from actual (inexpensive) tea bags and keep a jug in the fridge. Plus, many mixes and preparations are loaded with high fructose corn syrup and other sugars, along with artificial flavors. To make 32 ounces of iced tea, it usually takes 8 bags of black tea or 10 bags of herbal, green, or white tea. If you like your tea sweet but want to keep calories down, skip the sugar and add fruit juice instead.

21- Bottled water

Bottled water is a bad investment for so many reasons. It’s expensive compared to what’s coming out of the tap, its cost to the environment is high (it takes a lot of fossil fuel to produce and ship all those bottles), and it’s not even better for your health than the stuff running down your drain.
Even taking into account the cost of filters, water from home is still much cheaper than bottled water, which can run up to $1 to $3 a pop.

If you have well water and it really does not taste good (even with help from a filter), or if you have a baby at home who is bottle-fed and needs to drink safe water, buy jugs of distilled or ‘nursery’ water at big discount stores. They usually cost between 79 cents and 99 cents for 1 gallon (as opposed to $1.50 for 8 ounces of ‘designer’ water). And you can reuse the jugs to store homemade iced tea, flavored waters, or, when their tops are cut off, all sorts of household odds and ends.

22- Salad kits

Washed and bagged greens can be a time-saver, but they can cost three times as much as buying the same amount of a head of lettuce. Even more expensive are ‘salad kits,’ where you get some greens, a small bag of dressing, and a small bag of croutons. Skip these altogether. Make your own croutons by toasting cut-up stale bread you would otherwise toss, and try mixing your own salad dressing.

23- Individual servings of anything

The recent trend to package small quantities into 100-calorie snack packs is a way for food-makers to get more money from unsuspecting consumers. The price ‘per unit’ cost of these items is significantly more than if you had just bought one big box of cheese crackers or bag of chips. This is exactly what you should do. Buy the big box and then parcel out single servings and store them in small, reusable storage bags.

24- Trail mix

We checked unit prices of those small bags of trail mix hanging in the candy aisle not that long ago and were shocked to find that they cost about $10 a pound! Make your own for much, much less with a 1-pound can of dry roasted peanuts, 1 cup of raisins, and a handful of almonds, dried fruit, and candy coated chocolate. The best part about making your own? You only include the things you like. Keep the mixture in a plastic or glass container with a tight lid for up to 3 weeks.

25- ‘Snack’ or ‘lunch’ packs

These ‘all-inclusive’ food trays might seem reasonably priced (from $2.50 to $4.00), but you’re actually paying for the highly designed label, wrapper, and specially molded tray. They only contain a few crackers and small pieces of cheese and lunch-meat. The actual edible ingredients are worth just pennies and are filled with salt.

26- Gourmet ice cream

It’s painful to watch someone actually pay $6 for a gallon of designer brand ice cream. Don’t bother. There’s usually at least one brand or other on sale, and you can easily dress up store brands with your own additives like chunky bits of chocolate or crushed cookie. If you do like the premium brands, wait for that 3-week sales cycle to kick in and stock up when your favorite flavor is discounted.

27- Pre-formed meat patties

Frozen burgers, beef or otherwise, are more expensive than buying the ground meat in bulk and making patties yourself. We timed it — it takes less than 10 seconds to form a flat circle and throw it on the grill. Also, there’s some evidence that pre-formed meat patties might contain more e. coli than regular ground meat. In fact, most of the recent beef recalls have involved pre-made frozen beef patties.

KFC Boneless Chicken Is Only 50% Meat



Statistics show that processed foods make up about 70 percent of the typical American’s diet – a truly frightening majority. So, what exactly ARE processed foods? It is accurate to say that they can barely be called foods at all.

According to Dr. David Ludwig, director of the Optimal Weight for Life Program in Boston, processed foods are, “fake foods made in factories, loaded with artificial ingredients and calories.” Dr. Ludwig frequently visits schools to educate kids on ‘Food Label Literacy,’ and points to processed foods as the primary reason that so many of us are unhealthy and overweight. He constantly reminds kids that, “real foods come from nature.”

Just because something is able to be eaten, chewed and digested does NOT make it an actual food. So many chemical processes and additives are used in manufacturing nowadays that even foods that start out natural end up in an unrecognizable, artificial state.


Melanie Warner, author of the book Pandora’s Lunchbox, points out that approximately 5,000 different additives are allowed in our food – that we know of. She writes, “the FDA doesn’t actually know how many additives are going into our food. This is in part because regulations are not only self-regulatory — so the food industry is doing the testing — but it’s also voluntary. The ingredient companies don’t actually have to tell the FDA about a new ingredient. If they choose to, they can simply just launch it into the market. The FDA doesn’t know about them, and nobody else really knows about them.”

Two of the most disturbing examples of the way once-real ingredients are being processed into potentially dangerous shadows of their former selves are boneless chicken and bioengineered hamburgers.

Boneless Chicken and Chicken Nuggets

KFC has recently announced that it will now feature their ‘Original Recipe’ chicken in boneless form in all 4,500 of its U.S. locations. The company also stated that they are considering making all of their chicken boneless, with bone-in options no longer available.

Internal KFC surveys show that nearly four out of five servings of chicken in the United States are now boneless; the complete reverse of 30 years ago, when 80 to 85 percent of chicken was unprocessed.

The downside to the convenience of boneless chicken? It is only approximately 50 percent meat, according to studies. The other half of the mixture is made up of sugars, corn derivatives, leavening agents and other synthetic ingredients.

Studies show that many brands of chicken nuggets, the pioneer in the ‘boneless chicken’ playing field, contain Tert-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ) and dimethyl polysiloxane. These are added to the oils the nuggets are cooked in as stabilizers. TBHQ has been found to cause bodily toxicity in large quantities, with resulting symptoms such as vomiting and delirium.

Some researchers argue that the levels of TBHQ in chicken nuggets are too low to cause these symptoms, but every little bit of poison adds up. Dimethyl polysiloxane is a silicone-based polymer that cannot be broken down by the human body.

It is also used in cosmetics. While some say it is harmless, why would you want plastics substituting as foods swimming through your system? This is not even mentioning the GMO corn used as filler in most of these products, and the resulting health risks of this practice.

Bioengineered Burgers

A 2011 article featured in the Huffington Post shed light on a bioengineering project that scientists worldwide have been working on for the past decade: growing meat “cultures” in laboratories. Researchers at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands have claimed to be about one year away from presenting their prototype of the world’s first bioengineered, synthetic hamburger.

A 2012 article in The Economist, describing related research led by Dr. Mark Post at Eindhoven University, details how this works: “(the) cultures, grown from stem cells, are sheets 3 cm long, 1.5 cm wide and half a millimeter deep… the stem cells themselves are extracted from cattle muscle and then multiplied a millionfold before they are put in Petri dishes and allowed to turn into muscle cells… The fatty cells of adipose tissue, needed for juiciness, are grown separately and then combined with the muscle cells before the whole thing is cooked.”

Sounds like science fiction, right? That may not be far from the reality of the situation. These ‘meats’ are completely experimental; there is no way to determine what health effects they will have on humans.

Such bioengineered meats could very possibly begin replacing the already-processed meat products used today. Furthermore, the packaging paper being designed for these new ‘burgers’ is a prototype made of silver nanoparticles, added to the paper by an ultrasound-like process, and designed to fight food-borne bacteria such as E. coli.

This packaging choice could very well have its own unpredicted side effects. When these ‘meats’ are released into the food industry, our generation will be the human test subjects, and will suffer any side effects that follow.

Nicholas Genovese, a worker in a meat-growing lab, told Reuters, “there are a lot of products that we eat today that are considered natural that are produced in a similar manner… society has accepted these products.” His observation is all too true.
